Watch Jarren and I drive to and explore Carmel beach on July 12. We weren't really expecting the weather to be so nice so we didn't bring our swim suits to the beach and ended up just soaking our feet in the waters.
SONG: Phoenix - Summer Days
Driving to Carmel Beach from where I live takes at least 2 hours or more. I thought it would be a lot faster, but that day traffic was pretty heavy.
When Jarren and I got to our destination, our first stop was to find a place to eat--since we didn't eat breakfast. At first, we wanted to use Yelp to find some good restaurants to eat at, but then we just decided to walk to some place and see the menu selection from outside and walk in... and we found Le St. Tropez. We were both kind of tight on money so we just decided to order the french onion soup (which was amazing) and an Ahi Tuna steak (which was also very amazing).
After eating, we walked towards the beach and visited many different shops.
The beach, I must say, is amazing. The sand felt great in between my toes, but just a fair warning, there are many twigs in the sand while walking towards the shore. Sadly, Jarren and I didn't bring our swim suits because we weren't entirely sure if 70 degrees is warm enough to swim in the waters. So we just rolled up our jeans and soaked our feet in the steep water.
The weather was perfect today at Santa Cruz! The sun was warm while the cool breeze gently glides onto your body so our body temperature wasn't too hot. When we got to Santa Cruz, the first thing we did was find a restroom, and then find a place to eat.
We ate at this bowling alley where they had a bar in the next room, and first look at the food that people were eating, I didn't expect it to taste so well, but once I took a bite of the fries and my Veggie sandwich, the food just melted into my mouth. The fries was delicious. They were a typical chunky thick fry that you would see at any store, but they added some kind of flavoring to it to make the fries taste sooooo good. Just the thought of these fries makes my mouth water.
After early our early dinner, we all decided to take a walk to Boardwalk. At first we wanted to ride a few rides, but we didn't want to really spend $4-6 bucks on one ride, so we changed our minds and wanted to take a stroll to the beach, where the waves washes up to the sand and pulls itself out towards the sea.
I wasn't really wearing the right shoes to the beach because I thought we would just walk around on the ground and not the sand, but Jarren and Eddie were both wearing flip flops so they were all good--but I was wearing my black Toms--so I couldn't really get my feet wet... Later, I just told myself, forget it, I'll just wash my feet later at the rinsing place because I couldn't resist not being able to dip my feet in the waters and having my feet sink into the sand while the waves wash up to shore and pulling me back in. The weather was so perfect so I just rolled up my jeans from All Saints and carried my Toms and my denim jacket in my hands and ran around like a kid with Jarren and Eddie.
Walking back, I saw a sign saying Ice Cream, and I felt like having ice cream that time so we all went in and got ice cream at Loard's Ice Cream. I got the same (my favorite) chocolate ice cream. It's pretty sweet, but I really love the taste of it.
I really didn't want to go home, but knowing I had work tomorrow, I had to go home and sleep early tonight. But I'm not regretting this random road trip we had today, even though driving to Santa Cruz at the rush hour was seriously a terrible idea because we got there an hour and 30 minutes later, but everything was perfect!
Oh, and the last two pictures with the Americans were random people, I was trying to take a picture of Jarren and Eddie because the background was so nice, and they were walking by and the man just decided to step in and say, "Go ahead, take the picture." So I laughed and said, "Alright..." Later after that, his wife and daughter stepped in and decided to be in the picture as well so we were all laughing and I just snapped the picture.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! (:
Drinking tea in the late afternoon with Katell at Stanza Coffee in Haight Street.
Katell and I aren't coffee drinkers like most people, and we were actually going to drink tea at a different place, but that place wasn't opened at that day so we decided to check Stanza Coffee out instead.
At that time when we were arrived, there was no line when we were checking out the menu, but as we turned around after ordering our tea, there was suddenly a long line right behind us. Thank goodness we got there earlier because I hate lines. :P
The place was pretty small and quaint, and it seemed pretty cozy once you walked into the coffee shop. There is no rush for you to leave, but mostly people who order coffee tend to wait on the side and leave after they get their drinks. I, for one, like to sit and admire the store while talking to my friends and drinking tea. (:
Coffee drinkers, I do recommend you to go and check Stanza coffee out because they have a TON of coffee selections, whereas for tea... not so much.
Oh, and, there is a bathroom at Stanza, but you would have to ask the baristas in order to go in because they would have to buzz you in.
After Katell and I finished drinking our tea, we walked around Haight Street and admired each stores. I never really walked in to a lot of different stores other than Wasteland a few others, but this time we both decided to see how some of the small stores are running.
Oh, I saw this cute Pug laying on the floor at Wasteland, and he was so sweet. When I saw him and I said "aww.." and started wagging his tail and stood up trying to walk over. I hesitated on petting him, because I thought his owner would be mad, so I slowly walked over and pet him but said good bye because we had to leave.
After walking around in Haight street, Katell invited me over to her place to drink some tea and we went over to see her apartment.
She let me choose one of the different types of tea she has. Some of her teas are from France and some are from David's Tea. I chose the nice smelling berry tea she brought from France and we enjoyed it while sitting at the dining table and talking even more.
