Liz Li, a MFA fashion designer who studied at the Academy of Art University, got her BA in Fashion Design and Engineering in China. Li, who grew up in Shanghai, China, had a great amount of experience working as an design assistant and a print designer at companies like: PCCS Garment Co. Ltd and Zhuang Rong Qipao Co. Ltd. Throughout the time Li was obtaining her master degree for fashion design at Academy of Art University, she also helped assisted a group of MFA fashion designers by constructing their Spring 2015 collection which was also shown at the New York Fashion in Fall 2014.
Liz Li decided to collaborate with MFA knitwear designer, Bom Kim, who also studies at the Academy of Art University, creating a total of eight beautiful knitwear and cascading dresses to present at the New York Fashion Week for their Spring 2016 collection. Li and Kim both decided to create an romantic abstract Chinese art onto their flowy dresses representing the birth of Spring/Summer and adding a few knitwear pieces to their collection as well. Li and Kim were both inspired by abstract painting and beautiful brushstrokes of the traditional Chinese calligraphy, creating something modern each light and rippled garment.
Each and every oversized dress is made from linen, transparent fabrics to give a lighter form of an conceptual ambience, and knitwear layered on top of some breezy fabrics.Their color story was inspired to have a natural and calm color mood with hints of black in each attire.
